SAN JOSE - The 9th annual Festival in the park in San Jose's District One will not be held this year.
Councilmember Pete Constant says that while the festival has grown into a cornerstone event for the community, the city's financial troubles have left him little choice but to cancel the annual gathering.
Constant says the actual cost of the festival is relatively low at around $5,000, but it reportedly costs an additional $10,000 dollars of work and effort from other city departments to put on the event.
Constant adds he is hopeful that the festival will return next year in its current form or perhaps as a privately sponsored event.
