Become an intern in the District 1 Council Office!
Are you looking for a great way to not only build up your resume but also get your foot in the door working for your local government? I am currently looking for both part-time and full-time interns to join the District 1 office!
What to Expect:
Interns will learn about the day-to-day tasks and operations of a busy city council office. Interns will work in many different subject areas and will be given the opportunity to focus on specific projects as well. Interns work at San José City Hall and interact with other interns, council staff, city employees, elected officials, community leaders, and residents.
Day-to-day office tasks include:
- Responding to inquiries from residents
- Preparing materials for City Council meetings
- Special research projects
- Working with other City departments
- Aiding other team members with their tasks
- Planning community events
Potential interns must have a passion for government and serving the community. Applicants must possess computer skills, such as Microsoft Office and email, as well as the ability to communicate coherently and professionally. Prospective interns should have the ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple tasks and deadlines, be organized and detail-oriented, and exhibit a positive and professional attitude.
